Ever since I was a child, going to the dentist was such a fun experience. I loved the whole adventure from start to finish and now having grown up, I would love to be able to provide that kind of experience to every patient that walks through the door.”
Blending Art & Science
Dr Shalini considers dentistry a beautiful combination of art and science. For her, dentistry encompasses the creativity of an artist and the skills of a surgeon to help improve someone’s smile. “Having painted all my life and even entered into regional art competitions, I feel like I can utilise these skills to help design a smile that my patients desire.”
Education and Professional Development
To prepare for her dental career, Dr Shalini earned a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from James Cook University in 2018. She sat on the interview panel for the Medicine Graduate program for JCU.
She stays abreast of the latest in the field by taking continuing educations courses. To date, Dr Shalini has taken the following: Anterior Resin Veneers and Relative Analgesia and Treating Patients with Anxiety.
Dr Shalini felt honoured to be featured in Success Magazine in 2020 for Dental Emergencies.
Helping children enjoy optimal oral health is another passion of Dr Shalini’s. She has provided oral hygiene education to children in various villages in India.
Outside the Office
When she’s not caring for patients’ smiles, Dr Shalini, who considers herself an avid foodie, loves to cook whenever she can.
She also enjoys reading books, playing the piano and playing club netball.
